Skin Benefits of Hyaluronic Acid.

Who wants a dry complexion? The answer to that is NO-ONE!!

If your skin is feeling dry, it may be that you're dehydrated and your skin is lacking water. The skin is the largest organ we have, made up of 64% water, and therefore always needs hydration. Dehydration is therefore not a dry or oily skin problem and equally affects all skin types, it is therefore a good idea to brush up on how to top up your hydration levels.

Unfortunately, there's no getting away from some of the causes which include extreme weather, air conditioning or central heating and too much caffeine, but there are steps we can take to counteract their effects. Alongside drinking plenty of water, one ingredient in particular does a phenomenal job of topping those moisture levels back up. It goes by the name of Hyaluronic acid, our skins saving grace if it's feeling sapped.

So what is hyaluronic acid?

Pronounced hiya-loo-ron-nick, hyaluronic acid is a carbohydrate molecule, a natural skin component and a KEY molecule involved in skin moisture, with a "unique capacity to bind and retain water molecules". The complexion champion has an unrivalled ability to hydrate our skin.

So what does it do to the skin?

As we age, our natural hyaluronic acid levels deplete, meaning a loss of moisture which means drier, rougher and lined skin.

The application of the synthetic ingredient according to research has restorative abilities to help boost our skins moisture content, soothe and prevent the loss of moisture. "When you apply hyaluronic acid to your skin whether as a serum or as a moisturiser, it acts like a sponge by attracting moisture, to boost hydration on the surface of skin. The moisture that hyaluronic acid attracts comes from your external environment, so it absorbs moisture from the air around you to leave skin plump and hydrated."

How to use hyaluronic acid...

Like most skincare products, you're going to see the best results if you use hyaluronic acid regularly.

It is recommended to get best results to use in both your morning and night skincare routine. Hyaluronic acid will draw moisture from the deeper layers of skin, bringing it to the surface and potentially exacerbating dry skin symptoms, so it’s imperative to follow with a moisturiser.

Hyaluronic Acid can be used as a serum or as a key moisturiser ingredient.

Hyaluronic Acid is a key ingredient in our LUNA Miracle Night Cream which aims to lock in moisture and perform its magic all while you sleep.
